...She was alone, severely wounded and exhausted. She managed to escape, but her calf, her most precious treasure... was gone... taken by the whalers. Her last chance to be mother... Faded away...

...She kept crying for it, hoping for miracle to come... But what answered her, was only the grim silence of the sea...

...Water filled with blood where the harpoons pierced deep in her back. Injury and exhaustion drained away her strength. The old mother rorqaul was slowly weakened. Agony and lament overwhelmed the great beast of the sea... and soon, she began to sink...

...The end drew near... She felt the coldness of the depth as she sank deeper and deeper. Soon she would be a part of it, like many whales before her...

...Then it happened... She heard a sound, a familiar sound... The call of her calf. She used her last strength propelled toward it. Bright light appeared before her, but it wasn't her calf...

...An orb of mystic light, rose from the abyssal darkness below. It sounded not just her calf, but every sounds she remembered throughout her long life, her past mates, her predators, even her own mother...

...The orb headed toward her, attracted her closer with the hallucination. Within a few moment, it collided against the dying sea beast...

...The darkness of the depth suddenly exploded with brightness. Satisfied warmth spread through the surrounding cold water like never before... And something began to form up...

...It was the end and the beginning... And a new legend was about to be told...
